Activities

Our friends at Pocket Nannies have kindly suggested three quick and easy activities that you can do with your little ones. Perfect for keeping them busy while your Wild Child dishes are in the oven!

 Blind Tasting

Blind Tasting

You will need:

A tray
Ramekins or small dishes
A blindfold (scarves work well!)
Tea towel
A selection of food to taste. For example: lemon juice, fresh herbs, maple syrup, sumac, balsamic vinegar, vanilla pod, cinnamon stick, ginger
Place each food item into the ramekins without your foodie(s) seeing them and then place the ingredients onto a tray and cover them with the tea towel. Put the blindfold onto the first little foodie and pass them one ramekin at a time. They have to guess what the food is by smelling and tasting it.
This is a brilliant and fun way to introduce new foods and flavours to children in a relaxed way. It is also a great activity for parties!

Shape Tracing

Shape Tracing

You will need:

Plain paper

A coloured highlighter

Small stickers of your choice (e.g small coloured dot stickers)

On the paper, draw different shapes of your choice. Then, get your little one to place the stickers along the lines of each shape.

This is a great activity for children who are learning shape names and/or learning to write. It will help develop their fine motor skills as well as strengthening their hand muscles. Learning the names of each shape and how many sides it has also encourages numeracy. Ask your little one to count the number of stickers used for each shape at the end too!

Skittle Rainbows

Skittle Rainbows

You will need:

Skittles

Warm Water

White Dish

This is the perfect activity for budding scientists. Place the skittles around the edge of your dish. Pour the warm water into the middle of the plate until it covers the bottom of all of the skittles (no more than halfway up.) Then wait and watch what happens to the colours from the skittles! Try experimenting with three dishes next to each other; adding cold, warm and hot water to compare what happens in each.
