With today being the shortest day of 2017 and marking the beginning of winter, summer seems very far away! The shortest day of the year lasts for 7 hours 49 minutes and 41 seconds in Britain. This day is 8 hours, 49 minutes shorter than on June Solstice.
The dark and cold days of winter can sometimes have a negative impact on the our mood, often known as the winter blues.
How to beat the Winter Blues
Make sure your home is well lit. With sun limited we spend a lot of our time in the darkness. Light is proven to boost our moods, so invest in a new lamp and lots of candles.
Make a promise to yourself to go outside everyday. In the colder months we tend to hibernate as much as possible, but fresh air and nature is key to beating the blues.
Exercise regularly. Movement increases endorphins which make you happy!
Socialize! Organise play dates for your little ones and make space in your schedule for adult time.
