Chia seed jam is a fantastic healthy alternative to the usual sugar based version. Once the seeds come into contact with liquid, they grow creating a gelatin like substance with a similar consistency to jelly. They are also loaded with protein, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber, something both adult and little foodies all need more of!
1 cup of strawberries, halved
1 tbsp of maple syrup
1 heaped tbsp of chia seeds
First put your strawberries in a pan on a low heat covering the base of the pan with water, boiling down the fruit till its completely broken down into a thick liquid
Put the strawberry mix in a jar and add your maple syrup and chia seeds, stirring so everything is combined.
Place in the fridge for an hour, letting the jam thicken!
